Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking your African golf adventure.
What is a golf DMC and why use one for Africa?+
A Destination Management Company (DMC) like Arikai Africa has on-the-ground expertise, exclusive supplier relationships, and local knowledge that no online booking platform can replicate. We handle every detail — tee times at sold-out courses, luxury lodge allocations, transfers, caddie briefings and crisis management — so you arrive and simply play.
How far in advance should I book?+
We recommend booking 6–12 months in advance for peak season (May–September) and major events. However, we have strong relationships that sometimes allow last-minute bookings. Contact us regardless of your timeframe and we'll work with what's available.
Can you combine golf with a Big Five safari?+
Absolutely — this is one of our signature offerings. Courses like Leopard Creek literally share a fence with Kruger National Park. We specialise in Golf + Safari combinations across South Africa, Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls), Kenya and beyond. You can tee off at dawn and be on a game drive by sunset.
Do you cater for societies and large groups?+
Yes — this is one of our core services. We've hosted society trips from 8 to 80+ golfers, managing everything from flight coordination and hotel blocks to course competitions, prize-giving dinners and custom gifts. Each member receives the same bespoke attention.
What handicap level do your courses suit?+
We work with golfers from beginners to single-figure players. Every course we feature has multiple tee options. We match courses to your handicap range and playing style — whether you want a leisurely oceanside round or a full championship challenge.
What is the best time of year to play golf in South Africa?+
South Africa's golf season runs year-round, but the Western Cape (Cape Town, Garden Route) is best April–October (dry season). The Bushveld (Kruger, Sun City) is excellent May–September. Ask us to plan around your ideal weather window and we'll tailor accordingly.
Do I need a visa to visit South Africa?+
Citizens of the EU, UK, Ireland, USA, Canada and Australia receive a free 90-day visitor permit on arrival. We provide a comprehensive pre-departure briefing covering visa requirements for all destinations on your itinerary.
